In his earlier days (after leaving secondary school) Theo worked at Hamilton Airport on the tarmac (baggage handling etc). After several years, as the regularity of work became unreliable, he moved to Wellington to work at Wellington Airport performing similar roles.

He moved up to Auckland to train as a Sky Dive instructor, and after completing the course (2020), he lived with family at Mt Maunganui for a short period, where he could combine his love of surfing and sky diving from the same location.

It was at Mt Maunganui (Tauranga) airport, after having completed around 200 jumps, including filming many of his own, and those of others, that he was fatally injured in the sky diving accident.
